Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is a day of celebration of love among lovers or couples. It is celebrated on 14th February every year. In many western countries, it is observed as a holiday on this day as it has its roots from Western influenced cultures. This day is named after 2 early Christian martyrs named Valentine. At the time when custom of courtly love began to amplify, this day became connected to romance and love. It all happened around the time of Geoffrey Chaucer in High Middle Ages.
This day is also connected to the love notes which were mutually exchanged in the form of valentines. The heart shaped sketch and the form of the winged Cupid who is a Roman God of love and erotic sex give way to the symbols of valentine these days. Before the nineteenth century, there was hand written love notes that were in vogue whereas now, they have been replaced by greeting cards. However, just to add a zing of romance and feel so that it may kindle one’s partner’s heart, some lovers prefer hand written notes even today. Today, this day is celebrated in almost every corner of the world, thanks to the great marketing and advertising. Moreover, it’s good to know that there occurs a day when lovers could possibly rekindle the old flame if the candles have burned out. If you ask most of the people, they would reply that they do not believe in Valentine’s Day as everyday can be a valentine’s day and you do not need a day to celebrate this magnificent thing called love. But, then in this busy, competitive and cynical world, who gets the time to actually love their partner. Worst than that will be when your relationship is going through a rough patch. These are the things that every human will be facing as after all, we are humans and not divine creatures. At such inevitable times, this day comes to the rescue and serves as an auspicious moment when one could re-unite with their respective partners, forgetting everything else and putting your partner at the very center of your attention. Besides, this day will sprout branches of past memories when you made a promise that you will never leave your partner till death does you both apart. Those days will be revived when you were a slave to your love’s charms. Time will be flowing like a river, wave after wave, quite unlike your daily hectic routine. These are some moments which will get etched in your memory for a lifetime.
So, you must be thinking of the so many magical things that can occur on that day. But, there is not a single thing on earth which has given its way without a way. Shrouded with confusion and complexities and accompanied with equal exhilaration and anticipation about the day, you must be wondering what I am talking about. Most people stand by the belief that love is unconditional but this is where they are going wrong. It is the silliest thing on earth to treat such a magnificent, transcendental and supreme feeling called love as unconditional whereas in this earth, each and every minute feel good factor has a condition, be it winning in sports, success in education and much more. Even God won’t be pleased without conditions such as dedication, determination, hard work etc. So, how does one think that a relationship is going to succeed without conditions i.e. working on it. Thus, one should keep in mind that nothing works without a strategy. Making your relationship blossom from a bud to a flower also has a strategy.
I agree with the convention that love is blind. But, then there is a good quote by Thomas Fuller that says “He that would have fruit must climb the tree”. The nature of love being blind is like the dirt found while digging for gold. As one stumbles upon ounces of dirt at the time of digging for gold, he goes on removing the dirt and digs deep inside, finally viewing the glimpse of gold with his sparkling eyes of joy. So, if you keep aside the temptation of being blind in love and start looking at the pragmatic things, you are bound to succeed in love. Thus, the crust of my saying is that even on Valentine’s Day, one should not think that the partner will get impressed without any extra effort to do so. One of the romantic spots is the bedroom in which you can really spill the wine of love on your partner. So, here are some very important tips for how to decorate your bedroom on Valentine’s Day and treat your partner with serendipity.
1> Lighting can be very effective to spice up the romance in both of you. Also, keep the lighting not so sparkling i.e. soft lightning should be the way.
2> Candles can evoke feelings of intimacy. They also let the stress run away and make your eyes focused on the pulchritude of your love and the candle light. Also, they give a romantic look to the room. Besides, they should be grouped together in many corners of the room for the best effect.

Hookah's Myth Busting
I guess you won't be friends with hookah after you hear about all various bits of your body that can shrivel up and die due to excessive hookah-smoking!
Okay, okay. So many have shamelessly promoted hookahs and even went so far as to tell you how you can make one at home, but that doesn't mean I won't write about the ill-effects of smoking one, too. After all, you should know what you're polluting your entrails with! Then if you continue to puff them sheeshas away to glory, at least you'll be making an informed decision, thanks to me (so, howz it?)
The Workings of a Hookah
Now if that statement had another meaning, this write up would have been a lot more interesting and definitely not apt for those under 18 (not that it's stopped them or anything.) However, I've just been informed by my bosses that *thunderclap* THOU SHALT NOT MAKE ANY MORE SEXUAL JOKES, THY BRAIN IS THE BREEDING GROUND FOR FILTHY PERVERSITIES, ALTHOUGH WE MUST ADMIT THAT HOOKAH IS FUNNY! *snigger snigger*
Yeah, so the workings of a hookah are very simple really. Unlike a cigarette, in a hookah you do not inhale the tobacco directly. Basically, the flavoured tobacco is separated from the charcoal with a screen. When you inhale, the smoke from the heated charcoal passes through the tobacco, gets filtered by the water and then pops out of your pipe and mouthpiece where you make ringlets out of it to impress your friends.
Now people believe that since the contact with the tobacco is indirect, a hookah is safer than a ciggie. That's right, it is relatively safe, but that doesn't mean there are no ill-effects. And after you read what I have to say, you'll realise that your life will go up in smoke if you don't control your intake!
What does the water filter out exactly?
Regular hookah-lovers (hehehe) believe that the water in the smoke filters all the 'bad stuff' out. Which just goes to show that people will believe like, anything these days. *rolls eyes* So if I say that President Bush is secretly controlling Wal-Mart as part of his plan for world domination, people will believe me. (So, is he? I mean, you think so?) Water is primarily used to cool the smoke. It may filter out SOME stuff, like the tar from the coal, but it keeps most of the nicotine and the particulates/ toxins intact.
So lets figure out what's wrong with a hookah, since there's no smoke without a fire...
1. A cigarette lasts for what, four minutes? A hookah, on the other hand, goes on and on like an energizer bunny. On an average, a hookah is consumed for two hours at least. That is equivalent to smoking 30 cigarettes. If you dumb that down, it still comes up to 20 cigarettes. Which is still acceptable if you are a heavy smoker, right? Now for some myth busting. A WHO advisory claims that a typical one-hour session of hookah smoking exposes the user to 100 to 200 times the volume of smoke inhaled from a single cigarette. Therefore,
One hour of hookah = 100 cigarettes
Now, one cigarette reduces your lifespan by seven minutes
Therefore,
100 cigarettes = 700 minutes = 11 hours.
Therefore,
One hour of hookah = 11 hours of your life.
2. Nicotine. Addictive. Do the math. Its is quite possible to get hooked onto hookah, never to be unhooked again, while the nicotine does what nicotine does best - give you cancer.
3. Apart from nicotine, hookah smoke also contains high levels of carbon monoxide and the remainder of the tar that the water is unable to filter. According to Wikipedia, "Twenty two of twenty five cases of lung cancer in a study in India were among those who were regular hookah users." Dude, that's just scary man. Carbon monoxide is toxic to the human body, whereas tar can put you at a greater risk for heart disease and act as a carcinogen.
Apart from all that, a hookah increases the risks for:
1) Cancer of the lung, mouth and larynx.
2) Impotence. Yep Yep. You know what's keeping you down, boys!
3) Myocardial Infarction. Which means heart attack. I think. And cardiovascular disease. Which means the same. I think.
4) Gum infection. Which according to me is the most lethal of them all. Dentists are more painful than any other disease will ever be!
5) It reduces your memory and cognitive abilities, especially amongst adolescents. Didn't get what I just said, didja?
It is safe to assume that smoking a hookah is as bad as smoking cigarettes( or perhaps, more bad or devastating). Also, it's much cooler to stub out the 'cool tag' or whatever that influences your rendezvous with hookah. So, basically, if you know what's good for you, you'll limit your huffing and puffing to rare social situations or better still avoid it completely, for a hookah is not as safe as you might think!

Procrastination-A Matter of concern
Normally, conscientiousness which is a mannerism pertinent to cautiousness and thoughtfulness is always on a high in people who are victims of procrastination as they are always extra careful in doing things. They strain their brain a lot while on the verge of doing something as they think not twice but thrice. This creates a loss in personal efficiency. Further, it will cause disappointment to others in some way or the other. Also, mental agility will suffer a downfall. To some extent, procrastination is okay, but if it is out of proportion, then the above effects are bound to happen. Latin word Procrastinatus gave rise to this disease as pro means forward and crastinus means of tomorrow. This term was first published in Edward Hall’s Chronicle before 1958.
People bitten by this disorder often have a low self esteem. This results their inability to take quick decisions. The degree of a certain chore may be underrated or overrated by people for whom this psychological disorder has become a sort of habit. To many people’s disappointment, this disorder can be constant in some people, thus resulting a sense of great depression or ADHD. This disorder has also passed over to computer and internet addiction. In this instance, a person has a tendency to be away from the real world and deeply drown into the ocean of the virtual world.However, to the relief of many victims, this disorder can be also cured by therapy and constant usage of the prescribed medicines. Therefore, it is more than important for people experiencing procrastination to visit a psychologist or a therapist so that they get the better of many fears related to procrastination. Also, the possibility behind their not taking quick actions while on the verge of doing some task may also be some sort of fear related to the task. It may be like if I get my hands on or perform this task, I may get a bad outcome out of that task. This fear of giving a serious thought about the outcome before its pre-execution is a symptom of procrastination. Mostly, procrastination is quite frequent in students doing their graduation as they have the task of finishing their assignments within some deadline or some test for which they have to prepare hard. This is because they do not know how to supervise time and stress. A 1992 study had shown that 52% graduate students are bitten by procrastination, thus increasing the need to fight against the disorder. One method for not only students but also everyone else who bears the disease is that they should be well furnished with time management skills. Besides, these skills are bound to make their work a lot easier. Adding to the standards of procrastination, it can cross over into pornographic addiction too.
Even though, this disorder is quite prevalent, it can be treated if determined to take proper medical care. If one goes for proper treatment, he can live life like any other normal person which is a blissful and tension free relaxed life.

A manufacturing company, say an automotive accessory unit, can adopt e-commerce as a way of linking itself forwards and backwards into its supply chain. At its simplest level, this means being electronically available to vendors, dealers and end-users 24 hours a day. An email connection is a good place to start. It can be developed into a route for electronic data interchange as a next step. The most important and frequently wanted information for any manufacturer or dealer is the order status. When the next supply can be expected with certainty is the question uppermost in the minds of any downstream partner in the supply chain relationship.
The impact of e-business on the working of organizations extends far beyond the traditional definition of commerce, although the impact on different sectors and firms is bound to be varied.
The most fundamental and the first is the change in attitudes towards sharing information. To work really well, e-commerce demands information literally at your fingertips. At the click of a mouse, for example, the automobile manufacturer should be able to find out sources, prices and delivery schedules of all sorts of components. For this to happen, his production schedules and plans must be transparent to the vendors. Their production capabilities should be similarly transparent to the car or truck maker. This is just one example.
The key to reducing transaction costs is reduction of time to access, compare bargain and finalize contracts for selling and buying. The machine provides access and incredible speed with ease, and equally to all those who acquire it. How well it is exploited depends on the parties to the transaction appreciating the value of time and prompt information to both sides. Besides, there is going to be a permanent effect on the urinary tract, sex organs, men’s sperm production, digestive organs, bones and joints etc. Also, lips and skin get the blow too. The nicotine which is a drug in it is very harmful. Mostly, people start smoking when they are young because of peer pressure or a longing to taste the puff. The blood at this young is hot which leads to the consequences being overlooked by this section of society. But, then if one has a determination to quit smoking, he could. It will require a lot of extravagant human qualities to take birth such as patience, control, dedication, willpower, relaxation etc. One has to go to the quit smoking programs and attend it regularly. Also, while on the verge of attending the programs, negative thoughts such as “I won’t be able to smoke for my whole life or I couldn’t live without smoking” are bound to come. Nevertheless, you should bite they bullet to subdue your temptation. And these temptations are only natural as it is a fact that two-third of our thoughts in the whole day are negative. Only things we should know are to control. Also, follow the program accurately. Many things will be there including diet which has to be maintained according to the program. Moreover, do not allow yourself to be over stresses while going through the program. Also, as far as possible, try to abnegate yourself from your friends who induce you into smoking. If possible, it will be better if you find a friend who is like you and wants to quit smoking. This will give both of you the support needed for each other.
So, if done a little bit of elbow grease, one can quit smoking and set an example for others.

ANTIMATTER-A LIFE-CHANGING TRUTH
"Antimatter is around us each day, although there isn't very much of it," says Gerald Share of the Naval Research Laboratory. "It is not something that can be found by itself in a jar on a table."
So Share went looking for evidence of some in the Sun, a veritable antimatter factory, leading to new results that provide limited fresh insight into these still-mysterious particles.
Simply put, antimatter is a fundamental particle of regular matter with its electrical charge reversed. The common proton has an antimatter counterpart called the antiproton. It has the same mass but an opposite charge. The electron's counterpart is called a positron.
Antimatter particles are created in ultra high-speed collisions.
One example is when a high-energy proton in a solar flare collides with carbon, Share explained in an e-mail interview. "It can form a type of nitrogen that has too many protons relative to its number of neutrons." This makes its nucleus unstable, and a positron is emitted to stabilize the situation.
But positrons don't last long. When they hit an electron, they annihilate and produce energy.
"So the cycle is complete, and for this reason there is so little antimatter around at a given time," Share said.
The antimatter wars
To better understand the elusive nature of antimatter, we must back up to the beginning of time.
In the first seconds after the Big Bang, there was no matter, scientists suspect. Just energy. As the universe expanded and cooled, particles of regular matter and antimatter were formed in almost equal amounts.
But, theory holds, a slightly higher percentage of regular matter developed -- perhaps just one part in a million -- for unknown reasons. That was all the edge needed for regular matter to win the longest running war in the cosmos.
"When the matter and antimatter came into contact they annihilated, and only the residual amount of matter was left to form our current universe," Share says.
Antimatter was first theorized based on work done in 1928 by the physicist Paul Dirack. The positron was discovered in 1932. Science fiction writers latched onto the concept and wrote of antiworlds and antiuniverses.
Potential power
Antimatter has tremendous energy potential, if it could ever be harnessed. A solar flare in July 2002 created about a pound of antimatter, or half a kilo, according to new NASA-led research. That's enough to power the United States for two days.
Laboratory particle accelerators can produce high-energy antimatter particles, too, but only in tiny quantities. Something on the order of a billionth of a gram or less is produced every year.
Nonetheless, sci-fi writers long ago devised schemes using antimatter to power space travelers beyond light-speed. Antimatter didnt get a bad name, but it sunk into the collective consciousness as a purely fictional concept. Given some remarkable physics breakthrough, antimatter could in theory power a spacecraft. But NASA researchers say it's nothing that will happen in the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, antimatter has proved vitally useful for medical purposes. The fleeting particles of antimatter are also created by the decay of radioactive material, which can be injected into a patient in order to perform Positron Emission Tomography, or PET scan of the brain. Here's what happens:
A positron that's produced by decay almost immediately finds an electron and annihilates into two gamma rays, Share explains. These gamma rays move in opposite directions, and by recording several of their origin points an image is produced.
Looking at the Sun
In the Sun, flares of matter accelerate already fast-moving particles, which collide with slower particles in the Sun's atmosphere, producing antimatter. Scientists had expected these collisions to happen in relatively dense regions of the solar atmosphere. If that were the case, the density would cause the antimatter to annihilate almost immediately.
Share's team examined gamma rays emitted by antimatter annihilation, as observed by NASA's RHESSI spacecraft in work led by Robert Lin of the University of California, Berkeley.
The research suggests the antimatter perhaps shuffles around, being created in one spot and destroyed in another, contrary to what scientists expect for the ephemeral particles. But the results are unclear. They could also mean antimatter is created in regions where extremely high temperatures make the particle density 1,000 times lower than what scientists expected was conducive to the process.
Details of the work will be published in Astrophysical Journal Letters on Oct. 1.
Unknowns remain
Though scientists like to see antimatter as a natural thing, much about it remains highly mysterious. Even some of the fictional portrayals of mirror-image objects have not been proven totally out of this world.
"We cannot rule out the possibility that some antimatter star or galaxy exists somewhere," Share says. "Generally it would look the same as a matter star or galaxy to most of our instruments."
Theory argues that antimatter would behave identical to regular matter gravitationally.
"However, there must be some boundary where antimatter atoms from the antimatter galaxies or stars will come into contact with normal atoms," Share notes. "When that happens a large amount of energy in the form of gamma rays would be produced. To date we have not detected these gamma rays even though there have been very sensitive instruments in space to observe them."
