Review of Nokia E51
For all those techies, Nokia E51 comes as a new wonder of the Nokia cell phone industry. It came into the market in the mid of September. It is the latest to be offered by Nokia cell phone industry. It does look like a slimmed-down version of the chunky E90 as it is not equipped with the Qwerty Keyboard. But, even with a slim figure, the workhouse is no slump. It can be said as a direct replacement of the E50. The beauty of the design is so good that it can never shudder the way you think as simplicity is the aura of this model. At least, that’s what my opinion is about its pulchritude. It is 12mm thick, making it one of the leaner enterprise devices from the Finnish phone-maker, next to E61i which is only 0.5mm thinner. In short, the design is very safe and reserved. Besides, multiple one-touch dedicated buttons for e-mail, calendar applications and contacts is one of the cool features of NE51. These keys are also customizable for identifying short and long presses. Moreover, the * and 0 buttons also activate the phone’s Bluetooth and Web Browser, respectively. Besides, to mute the calls, a separate dedicated key is available. When it comes to connectivity, with dual band 3G/HSDPA on 850/2100MHz frequencies, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth stereo, infrared, 2.5mm audio jack, mini-USB port and support for different e-mail protocols that comprise of POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP. However, it becomes the victim of a do-it-all connector which obstructs the possibility of multi-tasking. If you want to share some data with the PC, then, the charging and mini-USB port can be juiced up as they are separate components. With Feature Pack 3.1, this amazing gadget is based on the series60 3rd Edition. It will be easy to use for previous Nokia users. That said, it will be a gentle learning experience for novices. Another good thing is that standard applications such as Active NOTES, In-Device Search, Team Suite and Quick office were preinstalled on the review set, thus, saving time which would have been otherwise wasted in downloading the programs. The only gripe is that the installed version is only a view copy. Programs such as Window-Live services that include Live Messenger can be downloaded over-the-air for free. This chic model corroborates with various solutions that include Visto mobile, Mail for Exchange which act as solutions. It has an astounding 130MB of onboard memory which is expandable up to 4 GB accompanied with a microSD card. The card slot will be located under the cover of the battery.
